Tips to Help Reduce Allergens In Your Home

More than 40 million Americans suffer from allergy problems & 25 million have asthma. You may be only moving the dust around with your current cleaning routine.  Sending allergens and irritating cleaning chemicals into the air can affect allergy and asthma symptoms.  Consider these tips from AAFA’s asthma & allergy friendly certification program.

Dust to control mites:IMG_9257

Dust all surfaces with a microfiber special dusting cloth.  Never use a feather duster which just sends  the dust into the air to land on another place.

Wash you bedding at least once per week in hot water & detergent.  Rinse in hot water.

Reduce Allergens:

If you have allergies, you should avoid pets with feathers, dogs and cats.  Animal saliva and dead skin, or pet dander, can cause allergic reactions.  If you can’t bear to part with your pet, you should at least keep it out of the bedroom.

Shut Out Pollen:

When you clean your windows, do you see a film of pollen on the frame or sill?  One easy way to prevent pollen from entering your home is to keep windows and doors closed.  Use an air filter and clean it regularly or run the air conditioner and change the filter often.

What Method of Carpet Cleaning?

The method we use for cleaning is hot water extraction, commonly referred to as steam cleaning.  Super Steamers Carpet Cleaners truck- mount method of hot water extraction removes the toughest, deepest dirt safely and gently. An environment friendly cleaning solvent is sprayed on all carpeting first, after special stains are pre-treated.   The Trucks power heat the water up to 200 degrees on an average, which creates the steam you will see from the wand.

This is the deepest cleaning method around, most recommended by carpet manufactures’. The powerful suction extracts deep-down all dirt, allergens and cleaning solution, as well as 95% of the moisture. It’s the cleaning method most recommended by carpet manufacturers. (Please make sure your pets and children, are not near the technician), the steam jets out a few feet and it is not safe!

Please know that these room sizes may vary by location. Free Quotes are given over the phone, by train personnel.  Super Steamers does all estimates over the phone, and promptly answers all phone calls.  We do not usually estimate on line, since it is not as efficient and or way to get accurate information. Does Carpet Come With A Protector?Dupont bottle & red bubbles

A dry soil protector comes on most carpet from the manufacturers. This is a wear dated product and is removed over time with every day traffic. Carpet manufacturers recommend that you have this protector reapplied about once a year, and perhaps more often on heavy traffic areas. Any protector that comes from the manufacturer is removed with the first cleaning of your carpeting.  An application of DuPont Teflon Advanced Protectant is applied at your request, and recommended.  Super Steamers applies this product with a sprayer, immediately after the carpet is cleaned.  It will dry with water repellent finish.

Why should I have Dupont Teflon Advanced Protector applied every time?

As the finishing touch to your thoroughly cleaned carpet and/or upholstery, specially formulated protector can be professionally applied. These products help carpet and upholstery resist soiling from dry dirt, water- and oil-based spills by wrapping each fiber in a protective coating. This extra layer gives you more time to clean up spots and spills before they soak into the fibers, helping you keep your carpet and upholstery looking its best between professional cleanings. Plus, it makes vacuuming and cleaning up spots easier.

What Does Deodorizer Do?

Super Steamers Carpet Cleaners, uses a natural bacterial enzyme action to digest organic odor sources such as vomit, feces, urine, milk, blood, etc. This product removes organic odors that it contacts. It also uses a neutralizer to give immediate relief from any odors while the enzyme is working. The key to complete removal of an odor is that this product must reach all contaminated surfaces. If the odor causing source has penetrated the backing and possibly the padding we cannot guarantee complete removal of the odor. Our deodorizer leaves a slight lemon odor that will only last a few days, put works in the carpet to eliminate the problem odor. If there is a sensitivity, to scents, please ask for no deodorizer.

Carpet Protection for Pet Ownerscarpet & pet foot prints

Super Steamers recommendation for pet owners is to take advantage to our “specials of free deodorization”, as well as identify pet stains to our technicians, so the proper enzyme cleaners can be used on urine.  This solution will help neutralize the acidity in urine, and remove that horrible odor from your carpeting.  Also, if a pet has urinated in the home, they will still go back to this area.  The Dupont Teflon Advanced Protectant will prevent future urination, or other spills from soaking through the carpet fibers to the padding.  Once urine is in the padding, it can’t be extracted that deep, without removing the carpet.  Thus deodorizers help with this problem .  But the protectant will give you time before it totally soaks through, to blot -up all the liquid. . Our trained technicians will deodorize your entire carpet, paying special attention to any problem areas. When the job is done, you’re left with clean carpet and a fresh, pleasing scent. Carpet Protector most important for pet owners, but recommended on all carpeting in every room.  You never know when something may be spilled.

Do I need to vacuum before the carpet cleaning crew?

Yes! aa_vacuum-300x300

A light vacuuming in the traffic areas is recommended to help pick up dirt and small particles, that may plug-up our tools. We usually ask our customers to vacuum a few days before their appointment.  On occasion, if the home requires deep vacuuming everywhere, and was not prepared, we may add a charge to the quoted estimate, for our time, usually $25.00.

How long will it take to clean my carpeting?

On average, it will take approximately 15-20 minutes per room. This time can vary greatly, depending on the size of the room, and the amount of furniture in the room, and if any pieces are being moved.  Stain attention is also part of the time factor. We always suggest vacuuming ahead, and moving small pieces out of the room, like end tables and lamps, dining room chairs etc. can help our technicians be more thorough and efficient.

It will vary from home to home, and how soiled the carpet was before cleaning, which requires repetitive strokes with the wand, adding more moisture.  The average home takes less than ½ day from the time the carpet is cleaned.

You certainly can accelerate the drying process by doing these things: Creating a draft with ceiling fans, open windows, stand up fans (especially at top or bottom of stairs) for air circulation.  In the winter, turn the furnace up a degree or two, will all speed up the drying time.

Our powerful, truck-mounted vacuum system extracts most of the moisture from your carpet, but it may still be damp to the touch. It’s okay to walk on it—just not in your street shoes.  Damp carpeting will wipe off your dirty street shoes. Best to wear vinyl bottom slippers.  You can accelerate the drying time with fans or air conditioning. Just be sure to leave the protective pads in place until the carpet and furniture are completely dry to avoid any possible transfer of color. And be careful not to slip when leaving damp, carpeted areas.

Do You Move Furniture?

If you want your furniture moved please inform our technician upon arrival, or when talking with our customer service department, when scheduling.  Large furniture such, as couches, love seat, chairs, end tables etc. are moved upon your request.  There is no charge to move a few pieces. We will return it to its original position, placing styro-foam cubes under each leg of furniture, to help in drying, and preventing any stain from the legs to the damp carpeting.

We do suggest you remove items off of your furniture like electronics, plants, lamps and nick-knacks. Here are several items we will not move: pianos, electronics, entertainment centers of televisions, china cabinets, beds, dressers, pool tables, etc.
